About Me

Human development during adulthood interests me. As I continue to pay close attention to my own development and that of those with whom I am in contact in different spheres of my life I have come to see life's transitions (parenthood, acculturation, career development), crises (interpersonal conflict, loss) and general and mental health conditions as opportunities for growth.

I believe that as healers it is only natural to invest in our ongoing professional and personal growth and that it is important to do so in the presence of others who have common interests and varying degrees of expertise. I am Board certified by the ABPN in adult general psychiatry and I am a member of the American Psychiatric Association and of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. And I regularly meet with my colleagues for case consultations.

It is an honor for me to bear witness of those who have decided 'something' has to change and are willing to take a look at their lives with a curious mind and an open heart.

My Background

I was born and raised in Colombia, South America.

I entered medical school to be able to become a psychiatrist as I was fascinated by the world of dreams and intrigued by the relationship of mind, soul and body. I completed Medical School at the Instituto de Ciencias de la Salud and then Psychiatry residency training at the Universidad De Antioquia, both in Colombia. After immigrating in 2000 I completed a Psychiatry residency program at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. During my training I participated in the Psychoanalytic Fellowship offered by PCOP - the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia -  and I focused primarily on dream and attachment theories.

I worked as a Psychiatrist and medical director at the Berryhill Center for Mental Health in Iowa and have been in private practice in Media, PA since 2018.

In 2023 I completed an Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship program with IPI (Integrative Psychiatry Institute).
